It’s official – Tropical Tan has been selected as a finalist for the JACC Small Business of the Year award! We couldn’t have done this without you, our loyal customers. We want to thank all of you for making our tanning beds, spray tans and aqua massages a regular part of your beauty routine.

This is a great time of year to get back into your warm-weather tanning regimen. Instead of rushing to get your summer glow back in June, start now with a consistent schedule of gentle tanning sessions to help you regain your tan. Come experience the mystic or versa spa. Lots of customers supplement their tanning bed sessions with spray tans. Here at Tropical Tan, we have always prided ourselves on the special relationships we come to develop with our loyal customers. Our staff has gotten to know and care for the regulars who have made Tropical Tan the number one tanning salon in Joplin. We are so honored to be nominated for some incredibly prestigious awards; for us, it is sufficient to know that our clients appreciate our hard work and quality services. However, we are very pleased to know that our commitment to customer satisfaction is being recognized outside of the tanning and beauty world.

We are honored to be nominated for the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award. As of March 30, we are one of the top three finalists. In March, we won the Better Business Torch Award. This is awarded to businesses that have no customer complaints and have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. This award is incredibly meaningful to us because it is determined by customer feedback. We feel like this is the best possible reflection of our business.

In February, customers voted us the Favorite Tanning Salon of the Four States. We are very grateful to know that you think Tropical Tan is a leader in this industry.

Tropical Tan in Joplin, Mo., is proud to announce that it has received the “Principles of Trust” award from the Better Business Bureau of Southwest Missouri. The award recognizes Tropical Tan for its success at building trust among clients throughout the region by advertising honestly, being transparent, honoring promises and safeguarding privacy.

The award is one that company owners are particularly proud of because it’s a reflection of the way they’ve intentionally run their business – a foundation of faith that inspires genuine care for each person who walks through Tropical Tan’s doors.

“We like to give God the honor and fearlessly serve Him in every aspect of life, especially in our business,” said Denise Graves, owner of Tropical Tan along with her husband. “God owns the business, and we try to abide by Joshua 24:15, which says ‘As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.'”

Graves noted that the Better Business Bureau highlighted the company’s adherence to principles of trust for the past three years. It’s an honor that we’re glad to say comes on the heels of another endorsement from the Joplin Globe’s “Reader’s Choice – Favorites of the 4 States.” Tropical Tan was yet again voted the No. 1 salon in the region!

To celebrate the company’s recent accomplishments, Tropical Tan is running a contest.

Tropical Tan Receives Gold Star from BBB Again

Tropical Tan has been recognized by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Southwest Missouri by receiving the 2013 Gold Star Certificate. This award is given out to businesses that exemplify and promote the value of trust in the marketplace.

BBB Standards for Trust

The BBB recognizes the importance of developing and maintaining a relationship of trust between businesses and their consumers. They define eight standards of trust. Businesses must build trust and uphold integrity with new and returning consumers. All advertisements with product and service descriptions should be forthcoming and honest and all promises made to consumers should be honored, both verbal and written. The business must be transparent in their operations so their standards, policies, and guarantees are known and understood. All consumers also have the right to privacy and it is an imperative standard of the business to protect this privacy. Any disputes with the consumer must be fairly and professionally handled.

Tropical Tan and the BBB

Tropical Tan has been a member of the Southwest Missouri chapter of BBB since March of 2009. We are an A+ accredited business. This rating was achieved after going through an accreditation process with a 16 factor grading system that includes consumer complaints, time in business, and licensing or government actions being a few of the major factors.

Tropical Tan recently accepted a Gold Star Certificate from the Better Business Bureau of Southwest Missouri. The Better Business Bureau awards the certificate to member companies who have demonstrated excellence in customer service by not receiving any complaints over a three-year period. The owners and employees of Tropical Tan are very proud of this honor and give all praise to God. The Gold Star Certificate validates their approach to providing quality services and products with professionalism and caring.
