Halloween is one of Tropical Tan’s favorite holidays. We love being able to express different sides of ourselves. Some of us go glam, and others opt for silly costumes. No matter what costume you wear, you surely want your skin to have that beautiful golden glow. That’s why we’re introducing our new UV FREE Spray Tanning Services just in time for Halloween.

Many of our favorite clients choose Halloween costumes that show off their amazing figures. They can attract even more admiration by popping in for a quick UV FREE tanning session. We offer two different types of UV FREE services. Versa Spa tanning is a three-step process. First, the body is treated with a priming mist to make sure that the skin absorbs the tanning solution properly. Next comes the spray tan. After that, a gentle moisturizing spray tones and nourishes the skin. The moisturizing mist has special anti-aging properties. One Versa session costs $32.

Mystic Tanning harnesses the power of heat to guarantee optimal and even absorption of the spray tan solution. The spray nozzle moves back and forth so it doesn’t miss any hard to reach areas. There are four shades of Mystic Tan available, ranging from Glow to Dark. You can even add aroma blends to your tanning spray for an extra luxurious experience. A single Mystic Tanning session costs $25.

October is Brest Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

At Tropical Tan, we believe in giving back. Our services and products are intended to make people look and feel better, but sometimes that isn’t enough. Most of our customers are women, so women’s causes are very close to our collective heart. Breast cancer is an illness that affects so many of us, and in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we have decided to launch a donation campaign. This cause is dear to our hearts since we have experienced it.

Every little bit helps, and we know that many of our customers are students or young adults who do not always have very much money to spare. To show just how far every dollar goes, we are encouraging all of you to donate just $3 to the cause, with a modest goal of getting an average of $5 for every donation. All the proceeds go to Hope 4 You.

If you make this small donation through Tropical Tan, we will give you 25% off any product or service you purchase that day. If you donate $5 or more, we will give you a bracelet to show our thanks and appreciation. We hope that you will be inspired to donate and to feel how rewarding it is to help others.

Build Your Base Tan Before Summer

A base tan is almost like a form of natural sunscreen. The idea behind a base tan is that it is more difficult to get a sunburn if there is already some tan coloring present. Tanning in stages allows the skin to heal fully in between sessions. Instead of getting too much sun at once and risking a burn, it is better to tan gradually so the color can build.

When the skin is exposed to sunlight or sun lamps, it produces melanin, the substance that gives skin its color. It forms a protective layer around skin cells, preventing them from being damaged by harmful ultraviolet rays. Tanning is a positive cycle that creates more melanin each time, making the skin more resistant to burning the tanner it gets. Tanning also releases keratin, which makes the skin thicker and less susceptible to physical and elemental damage.

The best way to build a base tan is in a salon over the course of several sessions. Trained spa technicians are able to customize the tanning experience so that each client is getting the exact amount of color that her skin can handle. In a tanning bed, it is possible to control light exposure and intensity in ways that cannot be managed outdoors in natural light. Some people like to start in five- or 10-minute sessions so they can see how their skin reacts to UV exposure. As their skin gets darker and their resistance to burning increases, they extend the lengths of their sessions little by little. For every five minutes that someone is able to spend tanning without burning, the skin’s SPF goes up by a factor of one. Therefore, someone who tans in 10-minute sessions essentially has SPF 2 built into her skin.

A major benefit of having a strong base tan is that it increases the effectiveness of sunscreen. When someone applies sunblock with a high SPF over base tan, the SPF is multipied by the natural SPF that the skin accumulated in earlier salon sessions. This method of combining sunblock with a base tan is a great way to keep skin healthy and protected during the summer months.

Join Tropical Tan this weekend at the Metropolitan Bridal Expo on January 25, 2015. We will be showcasing our bridal packages & how Tropical Tan can help brides achieve the perfect sun-kissed glow for their special day. Information will be available for our Uv free spray tans, high pressure beds., infrared body wraps, radiance red light therapy, & aqua massage therapy. For a $3.00 donation you can spin our wheel to win awesome prizes (all proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House). and be sure to register for our Bridal giveaway!

The expo is being hosted by the Metropolitan Bridal Magazine, a magazine whose mission is to connect, not sell, by featuring area businesses who can help brides achieve their vision of a dream wedding. The magazine has won multiple awards and is currently being distributed in the Four States.

The expo will take place at the Downstream Casino Pavillion (69300 East Nee Road Joplin, OK 74363) from 11AM to 4PM. Admission is $5 and all proceeds from the event will go to the Ronald McDonald House of the four states the Metropolitan Bridal Magazine is distributed in, making it a worthwhile cause for all attendees. There will also be a silent auction at the event for a prize package featuring products and services from the many vendors seen at the event.

Preregistration can be done on the Metro Bridal Website and entitles guests to the event to be entered into a drawing for a wedding dress. Guests buying tickets at the door will not be eligible for this opportunity.
